The Fiji Export Council (formerly known as Exporters Club) was established in 2002 primarily for the administration of the Duty Suspension Scheme (DSS) for the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority (FIRCA).

In 2007, the board decided to change the name to Fiji Export Council (FEC) to expand its roles to ensure that the national export diversification and promotion drive succeeds. In pursuing this goal the council engages in an extensive scope of activities.

The Fiji Export Council extends its membership to corporate companies, individuals, various institutions and student membership.
